Madeley Wood is built on the site of old orchard and
retains some of the original apple trees. These are both impressive and
productive and provide a haven for local wildlife. On a typical summers
day, you will see a collection of birds including woodpecker, kingfisher
and a whole variety of tits and finches. Squirrels and hedgehogs are
regular visitors too and if you stay up late, you may well meet a badger
or two. |

Madeley Wood nestles into a gorgeous plot surrounded by mature trees, shrubs and herbaceous borders. Private, peaceful, pretty and idyllic. This picture shows the view from the road with front and side gardens and front path leading to the main entrance. The borders are planted with every kind of spring bulb and there are myrtle, cherry, apple and beech trees. All contributing to a blaze of colour.

Madeley Wood has gardens to the front and rear and on both sides adding to the privacy of the house. The boundary is fenced. Leading from the front garden past the lounge Bay Window is a lawned area with an Ornamental Cherry tree. This leads to the rear garden and the first of many mature apple trees. Following the boundary of the plot, there is a secret passage way marked out by stepping stones which leads to a trellised walkway with climbing roses, bamboo and other shrubs. The passageway continues around the rear of the plot and leads to the workshop. On the other side of the property is a lawned area next to the greenhouse which would make an ideal vegetable plot if you are so inclined. At the front near the main entrance there is a Pergola with climbing roses and clematis. As well as the extensive gardens, there are patio areas to the rear and side of the property. The conservatory opens onto the rear patio and its ornamental steps to the rear lawn. There is a brick storage area for refuse and a garden tap and a water butt. |
